Sri Krishna Leela is not a single moment trapped in time; it is an entire cinematic universe captured on one canvas. This sprawling horizontal piece chronicles the divine play (Leela) of Krishna’s life—from his clandestine birth and the lifting of Mount Govardhan, to the celestial dance of the Rasa Leela. In ancient Odia tradition, panoramic tapestries like this were designed to wrap around the inner sanctums of temples, acting as a visual library for viewers to "read" chronologically.
Materials

Painted on handmade patta (traditional treated cloth), the surface is prepared to achieve both strength and smoothness. Natural and mineral-based pigments are hand-mixed and applied in controlled layers to create saturated yet balanced color fields. The palette emphasizes clarity and contrast, allowing individual narrative scenes to remain visually distinct while functioning as part of a unified whole.
Details

The composition is constructed through a carefully planned concentric framework, with the central scene developed first and successive narrative rings built outward. Each figure and motif is drawn freehand using fine black line work before color is applied in layered stages. The artist works at a miniature scale across dozens of small scenes, maintaining consistent proportion, rhythm, and detail throughout the surface. The complexity of the mandala structure requires sustained concentration and advanced compositional control; this artwork took approximately 200 hours to complete, reflecting the depth of planning and level of craftsmanship involved.
Finishing Touch

Every masterpiece is unique. Before your artwork is secured in its climate-safe tube, the original artist performs a final inspection. They hand-fill and refresh the intricate borders using traditional mineral pigments, ensuring the piece arrives in pristine, gallery-ready condition.
Care & Framing Guide

The 'Patti' Advantage: • Naturally Insect Resistant: The canvas is traditionally treated with a blend of tamarind seeds and chalk, making the artwork naturally repellent to insects and highly durable. Handling & Placement: • Clean Hands Only: Natural stone colors absorb oils. Handle by the edges with clean, dry hands. • Avoid Direct Sun: Prolonged exposure to harsh sunlight may fade the mineral pigments. • Never Fold: Always roll the artwork to protect the treated canvas from cracking. Framing Recommendations • Frame behind glass or acrylic to protect against dust and humidity. • Ask your framer for "spacers" to create a tiny gap between the glass and the painting, allowing the natural canvas to breathe • Images show the full artwork including an extended outer border- intended for framing and will not be visible once framed
