Info

This mandala-style Pattachitra presents Krishna in rhythmic dance at the center of a radiant circular cosmos, surrounded by repeating celestial figures that echo his movement in perfect symmetry. The composition unfolds as a visual meditation — part narrative, part geometry — where devotion, motion, and balance converge into a single luminous form.

Materials

Painted on handmade patta (traditional treated cloth), prepared through successive coating and polishing to create a smooth, durable surface. Natural and mineral-based pigments are used to achieve the deep reds, rich blacks, soft whites, and luminous greens. These hand-mixed pigments are layered gradually, resulting in colors that retain vibrancy, stability, and subtle tonal variation over time.

Details

The artist begins with meticulous freehand black outlining to establish every figure, curve, and ornamental detail. Color is applied in carefully controlled layers, preserving crisp edges and structural clarity. The circular mandala construction, radial repetition of figures, and densely patterned borders require exceptional planning and precision. Fine micro-line work appears across garments, jewelry, facial features, and decorative elements, reflecting master-level control and deep familiarity with traditional visual grammar.

Finishing Touch

Every masterpiece is unique. Before your artwork is secured in its climate-safe tube, the original artist performs a final inspection. They hand-fill and refresh the intricate borders using traditional mineral pigments, ensuring the piece arrives in pristine, gallery-ready condition.

Care & Framing Guide

The 'Patti' Advantage: • Naturally Insect Resistant: The canvas is traditionally treated with a blend of tamarind seeds and chalk, making the artwork naturally repellent to insects and highly durable. Handling & Placement: • Clean Hands Only: Natural stone colors absorb oils. Handle by the edges with clean, dry hands. • Avoid Direct Sun: Prolonged exposure to harsh sunlight may fade the mineral pigments. • Never Fold: Always roll the artwork to protect the treated canvas from cracking. Framing Recommendations • Frame behind glass or acrylic to protect against dust and humidity. • Ask your framer for "spacers" to create a tiny gap between the glass and the painting, allowing the natural canvas to breathe • Images show the full artwork including an extended outer border- intended for framing and will not be visible once framed
